About the Business Continuity Institute
The Business Continuity Institute was established in 1994 to enable practitioners in the emerging discipline of Business Continuity Management (BCM) to meet, share thoughts and ideas and to act as a support network for each. Graded professional certification was developed to validate the knowledge, experience and integrity of BCI members. Over the years our numbers have grown considerably, adding members all across the globe, but our focus remains clear – we are a membership organization – owned by the members and run for their professional benefit. Individual membership of the BCI brings a wide range of benefits including: publications, workshops, forums and conferences but most importantly an internationally recognized certification.
MBCP, CBCP or ABCP will be considered for membership in the BCI
The Membership Council of the Institute has carefully examined other BCM credentials, mapping them against BCI certification, and felt it was appropriate to extend an invitation to join the BCI to those who hold respected credentials. To date, the Council has identified the MBCP, CBCP and ABCP as credentials whose foundations are broadly in line with the requirements for our gold standard AMBCI and/or MBCI certifications. Recognized as a validation of experience and knowledge, professionals that hold MBCP, CBCP or ABCP certifications and are in good standing are invited to apply for membership in the BCI without having to pass the official exam*.
